January 02 Happy new year!Well... I've finally gotten round to adding a new entry!
Been a nice Christmas period... spent a week on holiday in malta over xmas, which was lovely and relaxing, but verry quiet and dull! So it was good to go down Talk on the first night back and have a throoughly crap, drunken night, just like old times!
New Years Eve was...interesting! In the end we just went to the Hog's Head and O'neills in town, still managed to be a bit of a random night for everyone though... random pulls, stupid random events, random silly hats and jon and pete being thrown out of the pub for looking suspicious in the toilets! (enough said). Think i ended up in Reflex after midnight, though not absolutely sure!
All in all it could have been a lot worse... better than last year anyway!
September 02 The joys of southend...I was out in town last night, walking down the high street at about a quarter to 9, when 2 10yr old girls cycled up to me and asked me for spare fags. Gotta love sunny Saafend, especially the kebab shop fights outside Ali Babas every night at about 2.30am from wednesday-saturday! August 26 its a friday.....good night down Talk last night, more pics added etc... and I had stalkers at work in the day... bonus! August 19 'Ello!Haven't updates this thing in aaaages! "So, what's going on?" I hear you cry (or maybe not.).
Erm.... not a lot really, been working plenty down good ol' tesco, and plenty of going out down all the old haunts!
Its been great to see all the old westcliff crew again (and ross STILL owes me £90!), plus had some good laughs out with the Tesco Team too, still time left for plenty more i'm sure! Been in southend for quite a while now, beginning to tire of the nightlife i think, places like Talk, Chameleon and the 'brush are a good laugh, but not when theyre the only places around to visit!
And that brings me on to LEEDS! can't wait to get back up there, heading back on the weekend of september 10th prob, it'll be nice to lurk about in the dry dock with a cheap pint again :) I'll definitely be out and about for freshers week too...
so depressing that it'll be my second year and i'll actually have to WORK though :(
oh well... June 03 well... it's been a while!I've had exams and just generally been lazy lately, hence the HYAWGE gap since the last entry! Ah well.... at least THE EXAMS ARE OVER NOW, YES!!!! Decided to go celebrate end of exams last night, went to the Fenton and saw the band tim and jonny from next door are in, Perceptions I think they were called... not bad at all! I especially liked the rough, scuzzy cover of radiohead's 'Just' (at least i hope it was meant to sound that way, and wasn't just crap!) that they played along with some original compositions. Then went for a pint in the wonder that is the Dry Dock, back to the fenton and then on a LONG walk to MPV, which turned out to have stopped its thursday indie night for the summer.... NOOO! Eventually ended up in the faversham, which was pretty dead... at least the music was good... proceeded to get ratted on many kronenbourgs, good stuff! Phoned up and ordered a punjab's pizza when I got back, only to find when it arrived that I had no money, meaning I had to try and pay the driver out of the mug of 1, 2 and 5p coins i keep on my desk...oops! Not the best of nights really, but it'll do... now that students are going home for the summer though it's going to get a bit quieter sadly, lots of the midweek clubnights are stopping and the wonderful cheap boat that is the Dry Dock IS CLOSING AT 11 ON MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS AND THURSDAYS.... whats that all about!? It's a travesty, seeing as I live in the place... oh well, might end up there tonight! (little pic of the dry dock below!)
May 10 Revision blues...I hate revision, it's crap! Today I did 1 whole hour... when you actually have something important to do, you make time for yourself to do all those things you wouldnt normally do, like washing the dishes! May 08 Life this week...Been an interesting old week... took part in that voting malarky on thurs, the students managed to get the lib dems into leeds north west, not a bad effort! Been a good boozy week, with a visit to Creation on wednesday (for some bangin' choooons), stupid drinking games for charlies birthday on thurs (which turned into shameless bullying of me..."Dan you're southern, two fingers.... dan you're short, two fingers" etc), and the geography ball last night... which was good fun (even though we were the only table of 1st years and a bit underdressed)... the food was good, the wine was shit (i'm never drinking red again... its horrible!) and we even got party poppers and bubble mixture on the tables, yay... good effort that. Then walked 5 miles or so all the way back to bodington, me and graham nicked a load of election signs from the roadside, leading a police car to pull up and the feds took our details... oops! Then ended up going to clapham house and talking shit for about an hour with a bunch of tories who didnt like the lib dem sign i was carrying. The sign WAS useful, however, in banging away at my flat door for 10mins till mark finally woke up and let me in (as i'd forgotten my keys). Oh what a night! Shame about palace v southampton earlier on... we were robbed! April 30 Back up and running...Haven't updated this thing for ages I know... probably 'cos it's a waste of time. But maybe I'll start again now... God knows why... February 14 Valentine's day!Not that this means anything much to singletons like myself. Frankly, the big displays of hearts and balloons everywhere over the past few weeks are bloody irritating! The most significant thing about today for me is the the Bloc Party album is out (must get it!) and that Crystal Palace are taking on Arsenal... we drew last time, but its away at Highbury this time round! COME ON THE EAGLES!
On another note, we saw a lovely house yesterday for the 2nd year at uni. Got a meeting with the landlords tomorrow... hopefully we'll get it! January 31 NME Tour, Leeds University 27/1/05At long last I went along to the NME tour at the union to see the Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party and the Futureheads supporting the Killers. What an amazing gig! Was really impressed by all 3 of the new bands, and was up at the front for all that time, though when the Killers came on so many people were surging forward that I found myself pushed out to the side. Killers were really good too, though the singer's voice didn't always carry too well, but generally well worth seeing! Danced with a girl and was getting on fine (holding hands and the like), then found out she was a 36 r old lawyer and not a 1st yr student like i'd thought... think my shock put her off! Oh well... plenty more fish in the sea right?
Promises to be a boring week up ahead! January 20 The Crazy Frog - HATE IT!Everytime I see that bloody frog on TV, it makes me seriously want to break something... what sick, twisted mind cooked up this ugly, lame looking creature that seems to be positively BURSTING to say its stupid line of " A ding ding ding ding dididing ding... " (or something like that). Even more unbelieveable is that anybody would PAY to put this shite on their phone! I'm with the guy in the picture on this one.
January 17 Sorted!Exams are over, thank goodness! Got another week till lectures start now, looking forward to getting in a little bit of rest and a lot of alcohol! Currently sorting out a major turnaround of my room, which has been a messy, cluttered craphole since september... determined to make it feel bigger, and maybe put in something 'tasteful', like a pot plant or lava lamp! saw a bit of the Karate Kid the other night... a bonsai tree like mr miyagi's would rule, but probably way too expensive :( oh well.... January 09 Owww... my head hurts!Hardly anybody had come back to my block of flats yesterday... was so BORED all day, so it was only natural to go out in the evening with my mate Al and his flatmates. Just for a few drinks, you know.... Anyway, went to the Drydock and then the Cockpit in Leeds... oh dear... one of those memory loss nights again! Really don't want to do my exams on wednesday and thursday, after the A levels, I just fell totally out of the habit of doing work of any sort... this is a big shock! Everyone knows students are meant to be lazy louts who stay in bed all day... I'm just attempting to follow this fine old tradition! It'll be nice when they're over anyway, might pay a visit to mates at another uni or something... January 08 Lock StockHad my brother crash round here last night while the parents stayed in a hotel, so thought I better put on a DVD to shut him up. Never watched Lock Stock 2 Smoking Barrels before, but its bloody AMAZING! So clever how there's so many groups involved in such a complex way, and its so funny too! I especially like Big Chris (vinny jones) and his son, little Chris, it's funny how Big Chris does things like slam a man's head repeatedly in a car door, but still acts in such a fatherly way, telling his son off for swearing and stuff like that1 Big Chris: All right, son: roll them guns up, count the money, and put your seat belt on.
All alone!Well.... sitting in my room now, surrounded by things to unpack... parents have gone home and nobody else is back. How BORING! Really ought to revise I guess, exams begin wednesday, but really can't be bothered right now... It's just so demoralising when you go in the kitchen and you still have things to wash up from last term as well! I think my george foreman grill's developing life of its own in the brown crusty stuff left on it... 'orrible! Might see if anyone fancies a drink down the Drydock in town tonight (a great scream pub in a boat, open til 2am!). If anyone ever turns up, that is! January 06 Up and running!Hi, welcome to this blog. I'm in my first year at Leeds uni, and I live in Southend in Essex. Currently on Xmas holidays, due to head back up to Leeds tomorrow, looking forward to getting back up into the action again, although NOT looking forward to exams next week! Will try and keep updating this thing and putting more pictures on if and when I remember! Enjoy Dan (who am I kidding? Who's actually going to read this?!)
